002 ~ [Dream]
Warnings: Spoilers for the latest aaarc, but not really huge ones, unless you click the second link I guess. Ah, that link might be a little disturbing too.
Effects: Happiness and excitement at first, uneasiness, emotional pain (or something) and concern later.
[Filtered from one Elliot Nightray since the thread with Vanessa.]
It starts out dark, with just the melody of a song, silently, in the black. But soon, there’s a voice. Those who know Leo would recognise it as his.
”Elliot, this is for you. This is to show my gratitude for ’Statice’.”
A hand holding a piece of paper, dressed in a white sleeve shows up in the darkness, and quickly the light spreads to show Leo himself, and he’s holding out said paper towards Elliot. He’s smiling, and it’s a genuine smile, not just one he wears to tease or act. It’s always hard to tell since half of his face is always covered by glasses and hair, though, so you would only be able to truly tell if you really knew him.
Elliot is smiling as well, one of those rare soft smiles he occasionally wears.
”This song just came to my mind, like an inspiration. I hope you like it. The title is… ’Lacie’.”
The scene shifts, the song is still playing in the background as a forest takes shape. A forest outside of a school, more exactly; the Latowidge school. Oz is with them this time, wide-eyed and looking at the both of them pretty intently. And not to forget the hands clenching Elliot’s shoulders.
”Before we met, did you guys play a song together?” he asks, as if it’s of really big importance.
Elliot just looks rather confused.
”…huh? How did you know…?” is his response (how intelligent).
”Don’t ask! I… want to know about that song. The writer, the name… Whatever’s fine!”
Elliot huffs (”ha”), and pushes Oz’s hands off him. ”Pfft. I was wondering what you were trying to say.”
”Hey…”
”I wrote that song,” Elliot says, oh so clearly, his tone annoyed as he turns around to move on back to the school. But halts a few moments later, first, as he answers. ”The song’s name is… ’Lacie’.”
If you look closely, you would be able to see that Leo wears an expression that seems almost troubled, disappointed maybe (but not really), a bit sad. And he is troubled, because he wrote that, he did, but Elliot is utterly convinced it was him… And Leo can’t for the life of him understand why. But he does know how, and…
It hurts to hear Elliot be so convinced about something that’s not true, when he knows how. But he doesn’t say anything, just swallows as he follows after Elliot and Oz, tries to banish the memories of that thing, that thing that makes Elliot forget…
(But it flashes in his mind anyway, insistent, insistent to hurt, to wound, to stick a knife through his heart. As if it doesn’t already hurt enough.)
He’s not even sure where the pattern there lies, but it makes Elliot forget things and he can’t understand the reason for this one. It makes him uneasy, as if he’s missing something that he should know (yet he’s not sure he wants to know).
”You have a problem with that?!” Elliot adds to that for good measure, his sword resting on his right shoulder as he glances over the opposite one at Oz.
Leo tries to school his expression, pretends to look somewhere else. He’s still not saying anything, and he’s not going to either. He can’t say anything, just can’t. However small, anything Elliot forgets… he will not remind him.
Because he doesn’t dare.

video
Well... Yes. Why do you sound like it's such an odd thing, miss Ada?
video
...um, well...
[She fidgets for a moment.]
Because I've always gotten the distinct impression that Elliot doesn't like girls very much...
video
Really, though, I didn't particularly think that I was going to give it to Elliot when I wrote it... So it just ended up that way. He does know flower language, like a girl, though.
[There's nothing but fondness in his tone, really. Speaking like this cheers him up quite a lot.]
video
Oh! Then maybe that's why he said he wrote it!
[Lightbulb going on over her head now.]
Maybe he was just embarrassed. Elliot says a lot of things he doesn't mean.
[In her case, he probably meant most of them, but she knows he's still a kind, gentle guy even so.]
video
And... Ada... That's just silly.]
Maybe.
video
...I really don't believe Elliot is capable of doing something so hurtful...
[Even if he's that way with her sometimes, she really believes in him.]
video
Maybe it's time to simply be vague.]
..it's not his fault.
video
But... someone is at fault...
[Just the way he said it made her feel like there was much more to it than he was letting on. From the dream itself it was hard to see how it could be anyone else's fault, however she didn't believe that Leo would lie to her. Perhaps hide things, but not lie.]
video
Indeed, someone is at fault. But...]
It's not Elliot.
[It's him.]
video
...something bad happened.
[It wasn't a question. Anything that could shake Leo this badly had to be... awful.]
video
Have a smile.]
It's not anything you should concern yourself with, Ada.
video
That's not true!
[She feels a bit bad for raising her voice a little, but she has to.]
You and Elliot are...
[No, not friends really, but she considered them friends.]
...then if it's not Elliot's fault you mean it's yours.
[The feelings, the images... you put it all together and that was the most logical conclusion.
All why seeming completely illogical. How could it possibly be Leo's fault? But that's why she wants to know, even though it frightens her a little.]
video
That burns too.
And this is heading where he doesn't want it to head. But he's not going to ignore it either. So he just turns his head away, squeezes his hand around the Dreamberry a little. He needs to keep himself together...]
You don't need to know.
[Those words have worked on Elliot. Will they work on Ada?
He really hopes so.]
video
...are you sure you'll be alright?
I know it's not my place but...
[The feeling of being able to do nothing got old rather quickly.]
video
These people won't forget.]
I will.
[He's been dealing with it for so long, after all. He has to be or he'll break...]
video
As long as you'll both be okay, then that's all that's important.
[And if things didn't go well until then, well... she wanted to be there to support them until things straightened themselves out.]
video
It has to be that way.]
Mmm.
video
...please take care of yourself, okay?
[She didn't like seeing anyone unhappy like that, but people she knew and cared about she worried about even more.]
Elliot would be very sad to see you hurting like that.
Re: video
He's not going to see me like this.
[Never. Especially not when he can't afford to tell Elliot what it's about.]
video
Do you really think he wouldn't notice?
[Even if he could hide it well, knowing the two of them and how close they were, it's hard to believe that Elliot wouldn't notice.]
video
Yes.
[If he believes Elliot will not notice... then he can manage.]
